Nordic Ski Series

Back by popular demand! The 2017 Series will focus on the 3 F's: Fundamentals, Fun, and Food (of course).
A great way to get out for a night ski, develop your skills, and meet fellow skinny skiers! Each week we'll focus on a ski fundamental–weight transfer, double poling, etc.–by providing a brief overview indoors and then heading out to do a demo and practice drills on the snow.
We're building a nordic community in northern MI that's open, friendly and supportive... come be a part of it.

Open to All

All abilities are welcome!  All ages from 9 years and older.
Skiers self-divide into 3 groups for practice drills: Beginner/Intermediate, Advanced, and Youth.

Schedule

Every Wednesday night at 6:15pm
Come to any/all weeks that fit your schedule. Note: weeks alternates between classic and skate.
Classic Ski: January 4, January 18, February 1, February 15, March 1
Skate Ski: January 11, January 25, February 8, February 22, March 8

Location

Meet at 6:15PM in the Nub's Nob Brown Bagger room (lower level). Look for the slope side door (under the deck) by the yellow chair for easy in-out.  Leave your skis outside on the racks to cool down.

Slope side:
Self-divide into Groups: Beginner (meet near yellow lift); Intermediate (meet outside brown bagger); Advanced (meet near green lift)
Practice Drills
The fundamental skill will be demonstrated by the group leader followed by practice drills for all skiers. Please note: the drills are not designed as 1-on-1 personalized instruction.
If you are looking for private instruction, please contact The Outfitter to set up a lesson.

Trail Ski

After practice drills, skiers head out for a non-guided, at-your-own-pace ski on any trail you'd like to explore.
Suggested gear: bring a headlamp and/or water bottle
Time Trial/Relays
An optional time trial against the clock or team relays will be offered each week. The route and distance will be announced in the Brown Bagger.  Mass start, hand-timed and all in good fun!

Apres Ski

Appetizers will be provided free of charge compliments of a local sponsor.  Cash bar available in Nub's Pub.
