SKI SHOP SERVICE
Michigan’s telemark shop.
Free-heel gear is what brought us here, and telemark and AT touring remain the core of what we do. We also mount, tune, and wax cross-country and backcountry nordic skis, and give alpine skis the same careful tune and wax — we just don’t sell or mount alpine gear ourselves.
The Outfitter has been outfitting Harbor Springs skiers since 1971, and telemark has been part of that story from early on — back when free-heel gear meant tracking down a technician who actually understood how it worked. It’s the work we still take the most care with.
Below is our full service menu: wax, tune, mount, remount, and the boot and binding work that keeps everything else running. Telemark and AT touring share a bench and a rate card — cross-country and backcountry nordic skis are their own tier — and alpine skis get our full tune and wax service, even though we don’t sell or mount alpine bindings.

Why telemark and AT, specifically
Free-heel and touring bindings ask for a different kind of attention — precise mount points, spring and cable maintenance, a feel for how the binding should sit underfoot. It’s technical work, and we’ve spent decades getting particular about it. Alpine skis get that same care in tune and wax; we simply don’t sell or mount alpine gear ourselves, and we’re fine with that being a smaller part of what we do.
