The 22 Designs Axl is a purpose-built free-pivot 75mm telemark binding designed for skiers who demand durability and versatility across both resort and backcountry terrain. Built around a bombproof 6-hole mounting pattern, the Axl delivers a rock-solid platform that inspires confidence on everything from groomers to steep off-piste descents.
At the core of the Axl's construction is a rugged stainless steel toepiece paired with long-lasting chrome die springs, ensuring the binding holds up season after season under demanding conditions. The 75mm "duckbill" boot compatibility makes it a natural choice for traditional telemark setups, while cables routed underfoot allow boots to flex naturally at the bellows for active flex and superior lateral stability on the descent.
Transitioning between ski and tour mode is effortless thanks to a pole-activated ski/walk mechanism, giving skiers the ability to flip to free-pivot touring mode on the skintrack and lock back in when it's time to ski. In tour mode, the Axl offers approximately 50 degrees of resistance-free movement for efficient, natural uphill travel. Two spring-loaded climbing bails at approximately 8° and 13° (with a 27.0 boot) further support steep ascents with ease.
Tuning the binding feel is simple with three slic pin positions for adjustable preload, allowing skiers to dial in the response to match their skiing style and snow conditions. Sold as a pair, the Axl is available in Small (AXL-S) and Large (AXL-L) sizes.
